On 26 March 2019, Territory Families Deputy Chief Executive of Organisational Services, Nicole Hurwood and Vice-Chancellor of Charles Darwin University, Professor Simon Maddocks signed the 2019-2024 Collaborative Agreement.

The event was held at Charles Darwin University and was attended by around 30 guests who had all come together to witness the event.

The collaborative agreement is a first for the Northern Territory and will strengthen existing relationships between Territory Families and Charles Darwin University while increasing the number of qualified full-time frontline child protection workers.

The agreement will provide valuable experience and placement opportunities for students studying social work, community services and psychological science. It will also mean that each year Territory Families is able to offer up to 25 permanent, full-time graduate positions for graduates studying social work and psychology.

The new agreement aligns the priorities of Charles Darwin University and identified opportunities to address mutual interests and needs across the areas of recruitment, education, training, workforce development and research. This will benefit not only Territory Families and CDU, but the broader community itself.
