Sponsorship supports NTCOSS conference
Sponsorship supports travel subsidies for NGO staff members to attend conference
Territory Families' $10,000 sponsorship of the Northern Territory Council of Social Services (NTCOSS) 2017 conference will provide subsidies to help up to 10 staff members of non-government organisations to attend the conference.
The travel subsidies are aimed at enabling NGOs in regional and remote communities to participate in the conference to be held in Darwin from 25 – 27 September.
Territory Families CEO, Ken Davies, says it is important for NGOs working with children, young people and their families to come together and discuss ways of improving the delivery of these important services.
“For Territory Families, strengthening our relationships with sector specialists is a significant focus, in the view of genuinely co-designing services that best support Territorians early on; before situations escalate,” he said.
NTCOSS Executive Director, Wendy Morton, says they are delighted to be able to fund travel subsidies for NGOs in regional and remote communities to attend the conference.
“These groups often work in isolation, and can really benefit from coming together with other NGOs to share their experiences, learn new approaches and innovative solutions, and participate in discussions on improving delivery practices,” she said.
“We are pleased that Territory Families has recognised the importance of the NTCOSS conference, and the value of bringing people who work in both Territory Families and the NGO sector together to share new ideas.”
The travel subsidies will cover up to 100% of conference, travel and/or accommodation costs up to $1000, and are limited to two staff per organisation.
Guest speakers at the conference include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner June Oscar, Australian Council of Social Service CEO Dr Cassandra Goldie, Principal Youth Court Judge of New Zealand Judge John Walker and Western Desert Dialysis CEO Sarah Brown.
Applications for the travel subsidies close on Thursday 14 September.
