Pensioner and Carer concession scheme has changed
On 1 July 2018 the NT Pensioner and Carer Concession Scheme was replaced with the NT Concession Scheme and the new NT Seniors Recognition Scheme will be introduced.
The NT Concession Scheme support Territorians most in need with cost of living expenses. To be eligible a person must be an NT resident, receive an eligible Commonwealth pension or payment including Age Pension, Disability Support Pension, Department of Veterans Affairs Pension, Carer Payment or Parenting Payment (Singles). Eligible members receive concessions on items including, utilities (power, water, and sewerage), car registration and NT drivers Licences, property rates and garbage and spectacles.
The Seniors Recognition Scheme is a non-means tested scheme available to all Senior Territorians who are Australian Citizens and NT residents 65 years and over. Members of the Seniors Recognition Scheme will receive an annual payment of $500 which they can use for travel or put towards their electricity and water bills.
