There is still time to put forward an everyday legend for a 2020 Foster and Kinship Carer Excellence Award, with the nominations deadline now extended to midnight on Sunday 23 August.

Territorians are encouraged to nominate a foster or kinship carer, Territory Families or non-government organisation (NGO) staff member  who is going above and beyond to make a difference to a child’s life. There are also awards to recognise siblings of children in care and to acknowledge young people with a lived experience of care who are thriving.

The Foster and Kinship Carer Awards celebrate the real and positive difference everyday legends among us make to the lives of vulnerable children in the Northern Territory .

The 2020 award categories are:

  • Outstanding Contribution by a Foster Carer
  • Outstanding Contribution by a Kinship Carer
  • Outstanding Contribution by a Territory Families staff member
  • Outstanding Contribution by an NGO staff member
  • Outstanding Contribution by a Sibling
  • Young Person Achievement Award.

An awards ceremony will take place in Darwin in September 2020, with additional events planned for the regional cities and towns across the Northern Territory in line with COVID-19 safety guidelines.

Invitations will be sent out to nominees in early September.
