Dawn Ivinson – ATSI Student of the Year
Territory Families Senior Aboriginal Community Worker, Dawn Ivinson, was named Northern Territory Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands Student of the Year at the NT Training Awards.
Dawn, who works at the Arafura Office in Darwin completed a double post-graduate qualification in Community Services Practice (Client Assessment and Case Management and Statutory Child Protection) in October 2015.
A proud Indigenous women and mother of three, Dawn has spent the last nine years working with vulnerable children and families. She also has a Diploma of Child and Youth and Family Intervention, and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
In accepting her award, Dawn acknowledged the support she has received from the Department to undertake her studies including ongoing encouragement from Senior Workforce Development Officer Alma Hanna (R) and In Care Support Therapist Jacquie McCann (L). Dawn will now go on to represent the NT at the 2016 National Training Awards to be held in Darwin on 17 November.
