International Women’s Day – Monday 8 March 2021

Published

Celebrate the achievements of women worldwide this International Women’s Day (IWD), Monday, 8 March 2021.

Marked annually each year since 1911, IWD recognises and celebrates the achievements of women around the globe.

The national theme for this year is #ChoosetoChallenge, highlighting that we are all responsible for our own thoughts and actions, and challenging inequalities in our society.

The global UN Women theme for IWD 2021 is “Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world”. This theme celebrates the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world in shaping a more equal future.

Recognising the importance of this day, the Northern Territory’s Office of Gender Equity and Diversity (OGED) provides International Women’s Day Grants to support events, activities, projects and celebrations throughout the Territory.

This year, grants have been provided to 30 organisations and community groups which will support events including workshops, panel discussions, networking functions and art performances across a diverse range of topics including health, law, leadership, management, gender, music, art, careers and trade.

You can find the events calendar on the website.
