Celebrate Generation Equality for International Women’s Day

Published

Territorians can celebrate the achievements of women worldwide with a range of events taking place as part of International Women’s Day this week.

Events are taking place in Alice Springs, Darwin, East Arnhem, Katherine and Nhulunbuy throughout the first two weeks of March to mark the occasion. Activities include speakers, lunches, street marches, sporting events, art exhibitions and workshops.

Territory Families is a proud supporter of International Women’s Day, with $40,000 provided to 27 organisations for events across the NT as part of the International Women’s Day Grants Program.

You can find the events calendar on the Territory Families website.

International Women’s Day, which takes place each year on 8 March, was formed out of women’s struggle for better working conditions and the right to vote, and celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements and contribution of women across the world.

The 2020 theme, Generation Equality is a call to action to join forces across generations and create a world where every girl and woman has equal opportunities to fulfil their potential.
