Celebrating our diversity at Harmony Soiree 2016
The 6th Darwin Waterfront Harmony Soiree was held on Saturday 28 May, with Darwin’s multicultural community sharing their culture through community stalls, performances and food stalls.

Big Day Out in Alice Springs
The multicultural communities in Alice Springs showcased their enthusiasm and shared their cultural richness through displays, culinary delights and performances.
Held on 14 May the event was coordinated by the Multicultural Community Services of Central Australia with support from the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
This year’s Glenti again attracted a huge crowd on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 June. Everyone enjoyed the Greek delicacies of barbequed octopus, yiros and baklava and was entertained by the traditional music and dancing.
India@Mindil was held on Saturday 25 June, with huge crowds making their way to Mindil Beach to soak up the magic of the annual Indian festival. Crowds of people enjoyed the vibrant Bollywood dance, music, fashion and traditional cuisine.
The Indonesian community celebrated their vibrant culture at the Pesona Indonesia on 30 July at the Darwin Waterfront. The huge crowd experienced the diverse cultures of Indonesia through traditional cuisine, fashion, musical and dance performances from visiting artists as well as local talent.
Cyprus Food and Wine Festival
The Cypriot community hosted the Cyprus Food and Wine Festival on 27 August at the Cyprus Community Hall. Everyone was invited to come along and enjoy traditional Mediterranean cuisine, musical acts and dance performances.
The 20th Darwin Filipino Barrio Fiesta (Village Festival) held on Saturday 3 September was a great opportunity for the Filipino community to showcase their artistic talents and share the rich and diverse Filipino cultural heritage with the wider Darwin community. There was traditional and contemporary song and dance performances and fun for the kids.

Harmony Grants 2016-17
The Northern Territory is a thriving multicultural community – it’s who we are. The richness and vibrancy of culture in the Territory is unique; a blend of the oldest living culture on earth with a diverse mix of cultures from all over the world.
Each year Harmony Day presents an opportunity for us to celebrate and share the Territory’s rich cultural diversity. Grants are available for organisations to celebrate Harmony in our community.
Harmony Grants 2016-17 will open in October.
Organisations interested in participating in the 2017 Darwin Waterfront Harmony Soiree need to submit applications for funding under this round of grants.
Applications will be assessed according to the selection criteria outlined in the program guidelines.

Community Benefit Fund grants available
Did you know that the Northern Territory Government’s Community Benefit Fund (CBF) has grants of up to $200,000 available to help not-for-profit, Territory-based organisations implement community projects?
Four rounds of Small Grants (up to $10,000) and Major Community Grants (up to $200,000) are now run each year.
